BRIEF HISTORY OF HYDERABAD
The city of Hyderabad was founded by the Qutb Shahi Sultan Mohammad Quli Qutb in 1591 on the river Musi 5 miles East of Golconda. The name Hyderabad reportedly had its origin in an affair between Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah and a local Telugu courtesan named Baghmati. He named the city Bhagyanagar after her, and after she converted to Islam and took on the name of” Hyder Mahal”, he named the city Hyderabad.
BRIEF HYSTORY OF HYDERABAD COMMUNITY
The sister’s had been exploring the possibility of finding a place in Hyderabad for a long time. Our communities in Andhra Pradesh very specially Peddakorukondi and Korutla are very far from Hyderabad and sisters find difficult to stay overnight in Hyderabad in order to proceed to Mysore or any other place hence we were looking for a transit house in Hyderabad which will a convenient and suitable place for any of our sisters at any time. We requested the MSFS and JESUITS fathers to helpus to see a place keeping in mind our mission. Fr. John Vadakuparambil MSFS the Parish Priest of St. Cecilia Church, Dayananda Nagar Secunderabad invited us to see the place. The Provincial Council visited the Parish on 27/2/2014. The Provincial council felt that this was conducive for us as there were lots of opportunities for pastoral work. Hence on 26th May 2015 Sr. Mary Crasta, Sr. Regina Cruz, Sr. Suguna. J arrived in Vani Nagar Malkajgiri. The new house was officially was inaugurated on 30th May 2015 by our Provincial Sr. Juliana D’Souza.
