HISTORY OF COMMUNITY
The community was inaugurated on 3rd June 2002. At the request of the Bishop of Thanjavur diocese, we started the community at Eduthukkatti, a substation of the Parish of Tharangambadi. Eduthukkatti is a Catholic Village with about 120 families and surrounded by other hamlets. The people belong to Dalit community and are poor economically. Most of them are landless and working in the houses and farms of Muslim landlords. Some of them owned land in the past but were obliged to sell them to the landlords when they could not repay the loan.

INFORMATION OF VARIOUS APOSTOLATES
Education Apostolate
We were invited to take charge of the Diocesan Tamil Medium Primary School at Eduthukkatti. There are 3 Government Aided posts in the school. 2 teaching posts are given to the sisters and the 3rd person is a lay man. We have appointed a temporary teacher. Children come to our school from our villages (Eduthukkatti & Palur) and from neighbouring villages (Mangudi, Budhanur, Koothur & Thirukkalacherry) by auto. The children are very talented in all the ways.
Socio – Medical Apostolate
We started Health Centre on 7th June 2006. The people are happy with our Medical Care rendered by us. Along with the medical care, we also carried out the De-Addiction programme. At present we are not able to continue this mission because of the lack of the infrastructure, persons and finance.
The registration is on the process as ST.JOSEPH WELLNESS CENTRE.
Pastoral Apostolate
We teach Catechism for children both in the school and in our churches. We concentrate on Faith formation of our children and all people. In the year 2017 we introduced and formed 13 Anbiyum groups (Basic Christian Community). Through these praying groups we are teaching them to read, reflect the Word of God and make spontaneous prayers.
The Lay Associates and Josephites movements were started in the same year 2017. Now it is being revived and refreshed.
